What are Threads?
Threads are a minimally-invasive way to tighten your skin and restore plumpness. We currently offer Mono PDO Threads at SOTS. The current threads we offer are different from lifting threads (although we will likely be offering these soon). Mono PDO threads involves inserting a tiny…really tiny…PDO thread under the skin in a mesh-like pattern. This can stimulate a natural rejuvenation process to target fine lines, wrinkles and ageing skin. It’s important to note that Mono PDO Threads differ from thread lifts, which use long barbed threads to lift the tissue. This technique will cause more than 1cm of lift to the skin. Instead, mono threads provide an improvement of fine lines and wrinkles by gradually stimulating natural collagen production to thicken, plump and rejuvenate the skin.

Frequent Questions.
WHAT DOES THIS TREATMENT INVOLVE?
Step one is making sure the procedure is as painLESS as possible. We will apply topical anaesthetic to reduce discomfort. This involves 30-45 minutes of sitting in our lovely reception area (so bring a phone or your book). We insert the Mono PDO Threads using a micro-needle or a cannula. This process typically take between 30-60 minutes (sometimes longer depending on how many threads you are getting). We can treat wrinkles, fine lines and texture with this method.
IS THIS THE SAME AS A THREAD LIFT?
No, I will repeat…because it’s important to manage expectations. Mono PDO Threads differ from thread lifts, which use long barbed threads to lift the tissue. Instead, mono threads provide an improvement of fine lines and wrinkles by gradually stimulating natural collagen production to thicken, plump and rejuvenate the skin. While Mono PDO threads will increase collagen tighten the skin, they won't significantly lift it.
WHAT ARE THE THREADS MADE FROM?
The Matrix PDO threads made from Polydioxanone, which are gradually absorbed and completely eliminated by the body. We use MINT threads by Mondeal in our clinic. Polydioxanone is an absorbable polymer that is flexible and durable. The Mono Threads induce production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for 6 to 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face allowing natural collagen production to take place, over time the PDO thread will be fully absorbed by the body. Typically, around 20-50 PDO Mono threads are used to treat each area.
HOW DO THEY TIGHTEN THE SKIN?
Mono PDO Threads induce a natural collagen production process which create a thickening, tightening and smoothing effect.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS IT LAST?
While the threads slowly dissolve, their effects may last up to 12 months.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Results may be seen in as little as 6 weeks and will continue to improve over 2 to 6 months.
